BRAC shall provide financial assistance to the retrenched workers if job-seeking procedure prolongs for long and if the retrenched workers fall short of capital in order to involve in income generating activities.

BRAC has an expanded network all over Bangladesh under its Micro-finance Programme. BRAC’s micro-finance programme in total covers all the 64 districts of Bangladesh with its 142,117 Village Organizations (VO). To avail the facilities of the micro-finance programme, the interested target group has to become a member of these programmes.

It is also noteworthy to mention here that BRAC encourages its programme participants to develop savings culture among them so that they do not spend everything they earn.

This system is prevalent in the credit programmes for extreme poor as an essential condition for loan. Our retrenched workers can use this service for both lump sum deposits (e.g. their redundancy money) as well as for regular savings in any of the out offices of BRAC. This will enable the workers to utilize the compensation money in the most productive way possible.
